Rijksakademie van Beeldende Kunsten
Committed to artists since 1870, the Rijksakademie van beeldende kunsten is an international residency programme that stimulates and promotes today’s most exciting artists. It brings together artists from all over the world in a unique, interdisciplinary environment, where they can deepen their practices and take a crucial step in their future careers. With this the Rijksakademie plays an important role in the development of the Dutch and international art field.
‘Sense of space’ resonates with The Rijksakademie because it is pre-eminently a place where people – artists, writers, researchers – from a wide variety of cultural and creative backgrounds come together and relate to each other and their surroundings. For a period of two years this artist community finds its temporary home in the former cavalry barracks at the Sarphatistraat and engages in a dialogue on what art is and can mean in society today.
